“Every day since then has been a gift from God.”
Often, we only come to a statement like this after a life-threatening experience. But if we clear away all the clutter that often fills our lives, there is no truer statement.
Every day IS a gift from God.
If we lived each day as if it was a fresh gift from God, would we live it differently?
Would we enjoy each experience at a deeper level? Would we show our love to our family and friends more lavishly? Would we focus more of our time and energy on things of eternal significance?
In reality, God does not owe us anything, but he has blessed us graciously with everything we have… even down to each breath that we breathe. As the apostle Paul put it as he presented the gospel in Athens, “In Him we live, and move, and have our being.”
Jesus told the story of the three servants given money from their master to be used while he was away on a trip. Two of them did exactly that, and when their master returned, they were rewarded. The third just buried the money. The master threw him out.
When we give a gift to someone, aren’t we most happy when we see them enjoy it by using it?
Would you join us in making today a different day? Enjoy all of today as a gift. Use today as a gift meant to be significant for you, for others, and for the kingdom.
We don’t have to wait until we have a life-threatening experience to live life this way.
Every day is a gift from God.
